Transforming the Business Future: Keys to Success in the Age of Awareness

By Lyda Correa

At the recent 360 Business Vision forum organized by the International Chamber of Commerce of Entrepreneurs IECCUS in Miami, Lyda Correa, CEO of BusinessVitalityUS, delivered a revealing presentation that captured the attention of entrepreneurs and business leaders from various industries. Her focus on the importance of conscious leadership and the need for adaptation to the current challenges of the business world set the tone for an enriching discussion on the future of organizations in the global context. In this blog, we will break down the key points addressed by Correa, providing a deep understanding of her vision for a conscious business model.

The Role of Neuroscience in Business Performance

Correa began her speech by highlighting how neuroscience has shown that mental states directly affect our performance, both personally and professionally. She convincingly argued that these are not structural problems inherent to our brain or hormonal balance, but rather functional issues over which we have significant control. This perspective empowers both individuals and organizations to intervene and improve their performance through constant renewal and maintaining high levels of performance.

The Importance of Renewal and Performance

Correa posed a crucial question: why is it essential to be in a state of renewal and high performance? The answer lies in the ability to make effective decisions, focus on meaningful conversations, be present, and capitalize on opportunities. She emphasized that, faced with adverse moods such as fear or exhaustion, it is imperative to move towards a state of renewal or peak performance to overcome these challenges.

Keys to Success: Intelligence and Will

The speaker shared two key concepts for success: intelligence, understood as the capacity for introspection, and will, seen as the engine that allows us to achieve our goals despite challenges. Correa highlighted that, beyond the accumulation of academic knowledge, true intelligence comes from our ability to pause, reflect on our emotional state, and act accordingly.

The Challenge of Ego in Learning and Growth

A notable point of the presentation was the analysis of how the ego can be a significant obstacle to learning and personal and professional growth. Correa emphasized the importance of recognizing that our perspective is not the only truth and that, by opening up to others, we can unlock a world of possibilities.

Pillars of a Conscious Business Model

Correa’s central proposal was the adoption of a conscious business model, supported by four fundamental pillars: knowledge and learning, purpose and direction, belief in possibility, and passion and values. This model focuses not only on outcomes but also on how those outcomes are achieved through ethical and conscious leadership.

The Need for Differentiation in a Competitive Market

In a world saturated with competition, Correa urged entrepreneurs to identify and clearly communicate their market differentiators. Collaboration and the formation of strategic alliances were suggested as effective means to strengthen a company’s competitive position.

Connection with the Present and the Power of Focus

The connection with the present was another important topic addressed by Correa. She emphasized how the ability to stay focused and present enhances our abilities, improves communication, and allows us to identify and seize opportunities that would otherwise go unnoticed.

Invitation to Action

Correa concluded her presentation with an invitation to action, encouraging attendees to join the International Chamber of Entrepreneurs and become part of a community seeking to transform the business landscape through awareness, innovation, and collaboration.

In summary, Lyda Correa‘s presentation at the 360 Business Vision forum has been a call to awareness, innovation, and collaboration.

Correa’s invitation to participate in the International Chamber of Entrepreneurs is not just a call to join a network but a summons to be part of a movement towards positive change in the business world. By adopting a conscious approach in our businesses, we not only improve our organizations and lives but also contribute to the well-being of our communities and sustainable development globally.

The era of the conscious enterprise has arrived, and with it, the opportunity to redesign the fabric of our economy and society. This is the moment to take action, to commit to a 360 business vision that encompasses all dimensions of our being and acting in the world. By joining the Chamber, we not only gain access to a vast network of resources, knowledge, and opportunities but also become part of a community committed to creating a future where business success and social progress go hand in hand.

In conclusion, Lyda Correa‘s presentation at the 360 Business Vision forum has not only reminded us of the challenges we face in the contemporary business world but also a beacon of hope and direction. It has shown us that, through the adoption of conscious practices, introspection, commitment to our values, and collaboration, we can overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles and reach new horizons of success and fulfillment.

This is an open invitation to all those who wish to be part of this exciting journey towards business transformation. The International Chamber of Entrepreneurs awaits with open arms all visionaries, innovators, and conscious leaders willing to lead the change towards a more ethical, sustainable, and prosperous business world. Let’s

Physics and the good data shown by neuroscience. These mental states are not structural problems. It’s not that I have a deficient brain, or that my hormones are not functioning correctly. It’s a functional problem that I can intervene in. Today, large companies, entrepreneurs, and society’s leaders wish for all their executives and employees to be in states of renewal and high performance.

And why must we be in zones of renewal and performance? Because it is there where we make effective decisions, focus on meaningful conversations, achieve being present, and see opportunities. Thus, today’s reflection is whether we are in a state of fear or burnout and not afraid to face it because if that’s the case, we must transition to a state of renewal or high performance.

How is this achieved? There are two keywords I want to share from this stage: do you know what intelligence is? Intelligence derives from “intus legere,” the ability to look inside. We are not intelligent just by attending university and obtaining degrees; we are intelligent when, in day-to-day life, with the need for immediate results, we can pause to reflect on our emotional state, understand why we are like this, and act accordingly.

And if we cannot intervene by ourselves, we must ask for help. Because there are coaches. In the city of baseball, there are advisors for everything. If we are not capable, we must reflect on it. The intelligence capable of looking inside and the will are crucial because a person with will go further than one with just intelligence. When I visit organizations and carry out interventions, I encounter a huge obstacle: the ego.

The ego blocks learning and the ability to understand that my truth is not the only truth; there are many truths. But by opening up to other perspectives, we open the door to a world of possibilities. If you are at a professional level, as a manager, or in a work team, and you find yourself in a state of survival or resignation, you have important work to do to move towards another state.

When, as people and professionals, we are aware of this, we can talk about it. We start to be people who recognize what happens to them, and that is what we call the conscious entrepreneur and leader. Let’s not be afraid of making mistakes. The problem is not the mistake itself but how we approach it and how we quickly correct it.

Our proposal is to work on a model of a conscious entrepreneur, leader, and business. And, gentlemen, there are four basic pillars that we cannot forget, according to statistics: knowledge and learning; purpose and direction; believing that it is possible; and passion and values. I won’t elaborate on each of them to not tire you.

But in the first pillar, knowledge, and learning, as Professor Gemi and Daniela mentioned, it’s necessary to study and return to the books. Those who do not inform themselves, study, or train, close themselves off to new opportunities. As Seneca said, luck equals preparation plus opportunity. But if we keep doing the same thing, we will get the same results.

Limited knowledge leads us to the same old, while broader knowledge opens us to different actions and new opportunities. We must step out of our comfort zone to undertake new and different actions. Remember the 70% failure mentioned earlier: the main cause is the inability to execute what was planned. There is a huge gap between planning and execution.

Why does this happen? Normally, the person who plans is not the same one who executes, and the one who executes is never asked if they have the capabilities and competencies to carry it out. That is the problem in organizations. I talk to people and entrepreneurs who have their plans but face difficulties and complexities.

So, let’s return to knowledge and not be overwhelmed by artificial intelligence, data explosion, or technology. Regarding marketing, sometimes I arrive on social media and find so much information and content that it seems overwhelming.

When you post on social media, do you wonder if your post alleviates your client’s pain or adds something valuable? Regarding the second pillar, purpose, and direction, remember that there is no favorable wind for those who do not know where they are going. As the saying goes, if you don’t know where you’re going, any bus will do.

Entrepreneurs, businesspeople, and leaders, we cannot start the year without defining our purpose. Otherwise, we will be slaves to trends, copying and pasting, following what is fashionable. Everyone has their rhythm and specific purpose, as well as their strategy.

I have many things I would like to tell you, but time is limited. Has the product you offer been validated by your customers, or just by yourselves? Sometimes I ask if they have satisfaction surveys and testimonials, and the answer is no. Is your product really validated? It’s not enough to know that the product is good; it must be validated by the customer, who is the one who should offer the testimony. The crucial question is: are we creating products for customers, or are the customers looking for us? How important is it to have a clear purpose and direction?

Additionally, it’s crucial to understand the concept as if it were an onion that we peel layer by layer. The first layer is knowledge. The second is purpose. And the third is belief. It’s useless to have a lot of knowledge if I don’t have a purpose, nor to have knowledge and purpose if I don’t believe in it and lack will. Will is what allows me to postpone gratification, convinced that the desired result will come.

I’m going to ask you a favor, guys, we’re almost done, I just need ten more minutes. There are two types of intelligence: intrapersonal and interpersonal. Intrapersonal is the ability to relate to myself, and it’s extremely important. Interpersonal is how I relate to others. And do you know why these two intelligences are so important? Because they make us selective.

I relate to those who please me, those who are like peacocks, elegant, who attend the same meetings, who walk and think like me. Sometimes we dismiss those who are “little ants” for being small, or “little turtles” for their slowness. Do you realize how many people from our Latin American countries, like “little chickens” or “little ants,” seek out this “peacock” here, and how humility and the willingness to help without prejudice could mean success in what the world calls us to do today? And how many “little turtles” are on their way looking for the expert advisor who is here today? Therefore, it’s important to support others and inspire them with values.

And finally, this aspect is vital. Peeling the onion to the last layer is sometimes the hardest, and it’s about leading from values. Although we claim to lead from our declared values, our actions often say otherwise. Therefore, we think what we don’t say, we say what we don’t think, we act incongruently with our words, and we feel what we’re not able to express.

Can you imagine an organism with so many crossed wires? That’s why sometimes we feel overwhelmed by our incoherence. There’s a huge gap between what we say and what we actually do. When you are in the organization as a leader, you may notice that you are not the only one being incoherent. Can you imagine your work team acting incoherently?

What results will you get? Can you imagine your entire organization acting incoherently and in a state of survival? Can you imagine people claiming to have certain values in theory, but in practice living others, or incurring the cost of being inconsistent? Keep in mind that value, that is, the result, is a direct consequence of our actions.

Therefore, our proposal, and allow me just five more minutes, really is the result of a change in focus. We flip the pyramid because when we lead our businesses driven by passion and values, and we are convinced from the moment we wake up that it is possible to achieve our goals, we have the will to postpone immediate gratification. We have a clear purpose and direction and have acquired knowledge adequately.

Your business works and gets results because, when purposeful actions accompany a strategy, the results materialize. And do you know what the conscious business model guarantees to conclude this part? Lasting results in an environment of well-being and connection with the present.

And the connection with the present is crucial for us as human beings. When we are focused on the now, without anguishing over the past or worrying about what will happen in an uncertain, changing, and ambiguous future, we avoid distractions. So, what I’m going to share with you as a small gift is this:

When we are connected with the present and focused, we operate at full capacity, making the most of all our talents. Our conversations become more effective, our ability to listen sharpens, and we are able to spot opportunities where we previously did not see them. We approach a difficult client not with judgments but with transformative conversations that facilitate the coordination of actions, business, and the exploration of opportunities.

Being connected with the present provides us with all the necessary resources. That’s why we say that no one is useless, but there are mental states in which being intelligent and getting results is very difficult. The seed I want to plant in each of your hearts today is the importance of recognizing what mental state you are in so that you can transition to a state of renewal or peak performance.

Human performance is achieved through energy, not just theory because we are beings of energy that mobilize toward action through our emotions. I would love to delve deeper into this topic, but I am aware of our limited time. All this is to show you that the focus and work plan presented by the chamber for 2024 is based on the model of conscious business.

We have all this offer for all of you. We will work in a format of conscious networking, where we will interact with our entrepreneurs and businesspeople in conversations that really lead them to concrete business deals. Conversations are where they find the true power of dialogue with others because it’s not simply about talking without purpose. If you go to a meeting and do not have a clear way to convince others that your business is the best, that you are the best person to invest in, or that your company is the best in its sector, then there’s a problem.

Here’s the situation: I’ve been in this city for two years, and something has overwhelmed me. You find financial advisors everywhere, coaches galore, and insurance advisors in droves. The question is: what’s your differentiator? Don’t be afraid of competition. Perhaps, if I don’t have a differentiator, my solution is to partner with someone, and together we become powerful.

But the big question is: what do you have that others don’t? Let’s talk about marketing, about that essence, through workshops and experiential seminars. We will bring in successful entrepreneurs to conduct workshops and seminars where they share how they have improved and achieved their successes. We will have a platform with educational resources, technology, artificial intelligence, strategy development, programming, leadership; resources completely available, and prominent participation in events. We will continue holding national and international events, offering business consulting, and programs with mentors for professionals, entrepreneurs, and large companies, access to international programs, and discounts on training programs.

This is the work platform that the Chamber will offer, gentlemen, something crucial for all our members and for those who wish to participate and affiliate. We will have the professional membership, the small business membership, and the corporate membership, each with special programs depending on the business or organizational development moment you are in.

To conclude, although I have extended myself, I insist on telling you that if we unite our hearts with a clear purpose, with the will to believe that it is possible, and with all the knowledge we have here today, we will form a very powerful rocket. I believe we will be the best rocket because together the result is exponential. Thank you very much to everyone, and I extend the invitation to belong to the International Chamber of Entrepreneurs.
