Millennia Atlantic University Alumni Association Holds Inaugural Golden Gala
Celebration of alumni raises money for scholarship fund
Doral, Fla. – The Millennia Atlantic University Alumni Association, a 501c3 non-profit organization, hosted its inaugural Golden Gala at the Intercontinental Hotel at Doral on Saturday, March 12. The event recognized MAU university alumni and supporters, with proceeds benefitting the MAU Alumni scholarship fund.
“The alumni association put together a wonderful celebration that I think everyone enjoyed,” said MAU President Dr. Aristides Maza Duerto. “We appreciate the graduates and friends of the university who attended, and we’re already making plans for next year’s event.”
The MAU Alumni Association is a 501c3 non-profit organization that was launched to keep all past, current, and future students connected while also raising money to benefit the alumni association scholarship fund.
In addition to dinner, the first annual Golden Gala featured a rousing DJ performance that got everyone on the dance floor, and a sold-out silent auction that included travel vouchers and Arsht Center tickets. The evening’s keynote speaker was Doral City Councilman Pete Cabrera.
“”Education is so important for the economic growth of Miami-Dade and the City of Doral,” noted Councilman Cabrera in his remarks. “I am proud to be speaking with you all today and seeing your commitment to empowering future generations.”
Special guests included Fortunato Benacerraf, President of TBB International Bank, which is the sponsor of the future TBB Bank School of Entrepreneurship currently being planned at MAU; Johann Zietsman, President of the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County who delivered the commencement address at MAU’s graduation last year, extending his support of the school by doubling the original number of Adrienne Arsht Center tickets available at the silent auction; Grisel Masso, president of the Venezuelan Business Club; and Andriena Ojeda, founder and president of Lingua Language Centers.
“We are preparing students to join the local and global business communities. It is extremely affirming to have the support of these business and community leaders who understand and value our commitment to helping students discover their full potential,” noted Maza Duerto.
