MAU’s TBB Bank School of Entrepreneurship Pitch Competition

Doral, Fla. — The newly accredited TBB Bank School of Entrepreneurship at Millennia Atlantic University offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Global Entrepreneurship and Retail and E-Business Entrepreneurship. This new program will provide students with the unique opportunity to present their business ideas through a pitch competition to acquire $10,000 in seed money and connect with potential investors for their startups.

“One of the biggest challenges for a new business is securing funding,” explained Fortunato Benacerraf, president of TBB International Bank Corp. “Graduates of these new programs have a path to bring their business ideas to life through a significant investment of capital from TBB Bank.”

More than just a class assignment, the business plans the students create will be the foundation for their submissions in the TBB Bank “Get Funded” Annual Pitch Competition. At the end of their academic programs, as part of their senior projects to apply what they’ve learned, students will deliver 7 to 10-minute pitches and participate in a 10-minute question and answer session with a panel of judges. The winning idea will get the top award of $10,000, while every presenter will have the chance to connect with potential investors for a chance to secure funding.

The number of people choosing business ownership as a career path continues to grow. Studies have shown increasing numbers of people are dissatisfied with working for corporations and want to venture out on their own. In 2020, Americans started 4.4 million businesses, a 24-percent increase over the previous year.

“The time and place is here and now,” noted Dr. Aristides Maza-Duerto, president of MAU. “Miami was named by Forbes as the top city for small business in 2019. Our partnership with TBB Bank uniquely positions our university to provide an extraordinary student experience for anyone with the drive and creativity to be an entrepreneur.”

Classes at the new TBB Bank School of Entrepreneurship start in August. For more information on Millennia Atlantic University and the TBB Bank School of Entrepreneurship, visit www.maufl.edu.
