Despite the pandemic’s disruption in their final semester, the Spring 2020 graduating class never wavered in their commitment to completing their degrees and proved their resiliency and drive.
On Saturday, December 5th, Millennia Atlantic University’s graduating students returned to campus for the first time since March to walk across the graduation stage and give closure to their time at MAU. The students graduated in four separate outdoor ceremonies to help maintain the social distancing and safety of our graduates and their guests. The first ceremony began at 9 am, the second ceremony started at 11:30 am, the third ceremony at 2:30 pm and the last one at 5:00 pm. As an additional safety precaution everyone in attendance was required to bring a negative Covid-19 test, and had their temperatures taken before entering the seating area. Masks and social distancing were strictly enforced.
In a brief address to all four groups, President Aristides Maza Duerto told the graduates, staff, and faculty, “With the unexpected transition to on-line learning, the burden of social distancing and the frightening threat of the coronavirus , you demonstrated resiliency and adapted to an unprecedented situation, without losing sight of your goals and academic commitment, and for that I am so very proud of each one of you.”
