Millennia Atlantic University (MAU) continues to closely monitor Hurricane Milton, which currently has maximum winds of 175 mph and is located approximately 750 miles west-southwest of Miami-Dade County. While the exact impacts to our area remain uncertain, the National Weather Service anticipates rainfall amounts ranging from 2 to 4 inches, tropical storm-force wind gusts, and the possibility of isolated tornadoes when the outer bands move through our area from late Tuesday, October 8, 20204, through Thursday, October 10, 2024.
Your safety is our top priority, so the MAU Doral Campus will close at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, and remain closed through Thursday, October 10, 2024. During this time, employees will work remotely. All MAU classes on Tuesday, October 8, evening, and all classes on Wednesday, October 9, and Thursday, October 10, 2024, will be conducted remotely using the Google Classroom platform. The MAU Doral Campus is scheduled to reopen on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 9 a.m. unless otherwise informed via email and posted on the university website and social media channels.
As the situation develops, we will continue to provide updates through emails, text messages, and our university website. Please make sure to check these channels regularly.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. Please take care and stay safe.
Warm regards,
Dr. Aristides Maza Duerto
