How to Conquer Yourself for Success. “The DNA of a Doer”

Rodman Martínez – An Exemplary Entrepreneur and Investor Who Inspires with His Story of Resilience

Born in Colombia, Rodman Martínez left his home country in the year 2000 with the firm purpose of making his way in the U.S. market. With determined ambition, he embarked on the adventure of starting a furniture company. However, as is common in the entrepreneurial journey, he faced a tough situation when his company went bankrupt just a few months after its inception.

But Rodman’s resilient spirit knows no bounds. Faced with adversity, he became a street vendor on the streets of Miami for three years, willing to work tirelessly to achieve his dreams. This phase in his life provided valuable lessons in sales and perseverance, which would later play a key role in his business success.

In 2005, Rodman Martínez founded MAKER’S SHOES, a footwear company with a unique vision. His creativity and determination allowed him to stand out in the highly competitive footwear market. Thanks to his focus on offering unique and quality products, MAKER’S SHOES experienced exponential growth. The company not only surpassed sales of over USD $80,000,000 but also exports its products to more than 28 countries, taking his entrepreneurial spirit beyond the borders of the United States.

Rodman Martínez’s success has not gone unnoticed. His story of resilience and perseverance has been recognized by major media outlets such as CNN, Univisión, Despierta América, The New Herald, among others. Rodman has been invited on multiple occasions to share his inspiring entrepreneurial journey and how a tireless Latin spirit can overcome the most difficult challenges.

Today, at 46 years old, Rodman Martínez is a respected investor and real estate developer in the Wynwood area. His business vision has led him to acquire several buildings in the area and continue making strategic investments in the Real Estate market. His ability to identify opportunities and his focus on diversifying income sources are a testament to his financial wisdom and business acumen.

In addition to his business achievements, Rodman Martínez is an active member of the City of Doral community, where he resides with his family. His commitment to economic development has led him to be part of the Economic Development Advisory Board, where he contributes with his experience and vision for the city’s sustainable growth.

Rodman Martínez’s story is a reminder that the path to business success is filled with challenges, but with perseverance, faith, and an unbreakable spirit, we can overcome the toughest obstacles. His story inspires many entrepreneurs and businesspeople to believe in themselves and their visions and to move forward with determination in pursuit of their dreams.

1. The Value of Things:

Martínez starts by highlighting the importance of valuing what life offers us, as what comes easily is not adequately appreciated. He refers to the value of experiences and how they can change our perspective and generate growth opportunities. When applying this principle to the business world, he invites us to give true value to the opportunities that arise, knowing that success involves overcoming beginnings and constantly growing.

2. Attitude of Learning and Embracing Change:

The speaker emphasizes the importance of maintaining a learning attitude and embracing change. Through his own experiences, Martínez highlights how fear can be an obstacle to progress and how overcoming it is essential to move toward success. Being receptive to new things and willing to adapt to a constantly evolving world is key to personal and professional growth.

3. Inspiration vs. Motivation:

Martínez differentiates between inspiration and motivation, emphasizing that inspiration is more lasting and profound. While motivation may be fleeting, inspiration comes from an internal calling that awakens our potential and challenges us to overcome mediocrity. Sharing authentic stories and confronting our challenges connects us with others and allows us to reach new heights.

4. Deeds, Not Words:

“The DNA of a Doer” is based on action and deeds, not just empty words. Martínez emphasizes the importance of being consistent with our promises and commitments, demonstrating our worth through consistent and positive actions. Being consistent in what we say and do is fundamental to building trust and success in our projects.

5. Environment and the Hunger for Success:

The speaker shares his experience of growing up in a challenging environment and how that shaped his mindset as a “doer.” The hunger for success and determination to overcome adversities are essential characteristics of those seeking to achieve their goals. Martínez encourages entrepreneurs to look beyond their environment and use their challenges as a springboard for success.

Conclusion:

Rodman Martínez’s talk shows us that conquering ourselves is the first step toward success. By valuing our experiences, embracing change, finding inspiration rather than just motivation, acting with deeds and not just words, and overcoming environmental difficulties, we can become true “doers.” Following Martínez’s example, we can apply these teachings in our businesses and our lives to achieve the desired success. Remember that each one has the power to be the author of their own destiny, and the DNA of a doer lies within each of us, waiting to be activated.
