Experience shows preparedness is the best protection method, which is why we should be ready for any eventuality. Here is everything you need to know about hurricane season 2017.
Dear Students, Faculty and Staff:
Hurricane Irma has already become the most powerful hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic. Its winds already surpass 185mph and are estimated to hit Florida by the end of the week.
Dennis Feltgen, director of the NHC (National Hurricane Center), said that "hurricane winds will start to feel on Saturday, but the worst will come on Sunday."
In preparation for the impending severe weather conditions related to Hurricane Irma, MAU activities and classes will remain normal today and cancelled from Thursday 7 through the weekend. Once the weather has cleared we will notify our students, as we resume normal business hours.
Irma became a Category 5 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center. Authorities estimate that it will affect Florida and Puerto Rico in the next days.
